CHERRY HILL, NJ -- Our Community Salutes (OCS), a national non-profit organization that honors high school seniors who plan to enlist into the military after graduation, announced today a major grant from the Robert Irvine Foundation to support its activities and programs.

"The key to succeeding in the military is starting off knowing that your fellow citizens are behind your decision to serve," said Chef Robert Irvine, Founder of the Robert Irvine Foundation and host of Food Network’s Restaurant: Impossible on the Food Network.

"Our Community Salutes is the only national organization that ensures every young American who enlists into the military receives the recognition they so rightfully deserve. That is why I'm proud to support Our Community Salutes."

Chef Robert Irvine was the co-host of America Salutes, the historic and star-studded broadcast produced by Our Community Salutes in July 2020 to honor our Nation's Class of 2020 high school seniors who planned to enlist into the military following graduation.

"We are honored to receive the support of the Robert Irvine Foundation," states, Dr. Kenneth Hartman, Founder and President of Our Community Salutes. “Chef Irvine stands as a living testament to the importance of continuous service to our nation's men and women in uniform." states Hartman.

Helping communities support the next generation of service members is the primary mission of OCS.

Since 2009, hundreds of OCS Recognition Ceremonies have been conducted throughout the country, with thousands of people attending in appreciation of the young men and women entering military service. OCS online resources help new enlistees (who typically serve for only 48-60 months) make a successful transition into and out of military life.

Funds from the Robert Irvine Foundation will go towards supporting the OCS High School Enlistee Recognition Ceremonies and related programs in 2021.

"All the success I have, I owe to the fact that I live in a free society in the greatest nation on Earth. That freedom is made possible by the selfless sacrifice of our men and women in uniform." stated Chef Irvine.
