Supporting The Guard: Our Community Salutes Announces Strategic Partnership with the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States
Uniting strengths to support and honor new National Guard enlistees across the nation
CHERRY HILL, NJ -- Our Community Salutes (OCS) is proud to announce a new partnership with the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS) to support new enlistees and their families as they begin their career in the United States National Guard.
“Over forty years ago, I myself walked into an armory in Upstate New York and joined the New York Army National Guard. It was a moment that I remember and cherish to this day,” said Dr. Kenneth Hartman, OCS Founder and President. “Today, we have a meaningful opportunity to work with EANGUS to ensure all new Soldiers and Airmen experience the support and admiration of their community.”
The National Guard has helped communities recover from devastating disasters, pandemics, and civil disturbances for nearly four centuries. Combining civilian-acquired skills and experiences with their combat training, National Guard Soldiers and Airmen bring rich and unique capabilities to the Joint Force.
“National Guard members all across America are woven into the fiber of every community; when the nation calls on us to serve as homeland defense, for natural disasters, or in foreign lands as protector of freedom, it is our Citizen Soldiers and Airmen that are always ready,” said EANGUS Executive Director Jeff Frisby.
“To commit to this life of service, certainly as an 17- or 18-year-old high school senior, takes a level of courage and strength that deserves to be recognized. The partnership that EANGUS has with Our Community Salutes gives both organizations a chance to work together to show just how thankful we are for these young men and women. This collaboration will help to send these warriors off with the awareness that their entire community is grateful for their commitment and are proud of their dedication to making the United States military the greatest profession in the world.”
As part of the partnership, EANGUS will join OCS in the annual OCS Enlistee Recognition Ceremonies, which have been held across the country for the past 16 years. These ceremonies have seen over 250,000 high school enlistees and their families receive the recognition they deserve, while receiving much-needed transitional resources for new enlistees; 75% of whom will only serve for 48-months.
