Joining Strengths: Our Community Salutes and the Military Officers Association of America

A joint initiative to recognize and support new enlistees across the country

CHERRY HILL, NJ -- Our Community Salutes - USA (OCS) and the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) have agreed to work together to honor and support high school seniors, and their families, who have chosen to enlist in the U.S. Armed Forces after graduation.

“Working with MOAA is crucial given the current challenges our nation faces,” said Dr. Kenneth Hartman, OCS Founder and President. “With the military struggling to meet recruitment goals, it's imperative that we recognize and support the 1% of young Americans who commit to defending our freedoms. This effort must be a collective endeavor, starting at the local level, and strengthened through collaborations like this,” states Hartman.

The agreement between OCS and MOAA reflects a shared commitment to honoring the brave decision these young adults have made to serve their country, and ensuring they, and their families, receive the recognition and support they need and deserve.

“MOAA is honored to work with OCS  to recognize and celebrate our nation's newest and youngest service members,” states MOAA President and CEO  Lt. Gen. Brian T. Kelly, USAF (Ret) . “These new enlistees need to know and understand that organizations like MOAA and OCS are there to support them as they enter and navigate their military career and beyond.”

As part of this agreement, MOAA will work with its local councils and chapters to support OCS in the annual OCS enlistee recognition ceremonies, which have been held across the country for the past 15 years. These ceremonies have seen over 250,000 high school enlistees and their families receive the recognition they rightfully deserve, while receiving much-needed transitional resources for new enlistees; 75% of whom will only serve for 48 months.
