High school seniors in the Central Texas area are being honored for their willingness to join the armed forces this week at schools from Waco to Lampassas by the Our Community Salutes of Central Texas.

AFN Airing Program Honoring Military-Bound High School Seniors

America Salutes 2021 airs on AFN|family on May 22 at 6 p.m. in Japan, Korea and Central Europe. The program, hosted by John Huertas of the NBC Show This Is Us, includes a musical performance by Lee Greenwood as well as thank you messages from celebrities and military leaders.

Dr. Kenneth Hartman, who founded a nonprofit organization that honors graduating high school seniors who plan to enlist in the military immediately after graduation, joined Emma Hearn, who enlisted in the Air Force, on 'Fox & Friends Weekend’.

Roughly 100 young men and women who have enlisted in the U.S. military were recognized as part of Our Community Salutes, put on by the Community Military Appreciation Committee, an annual salute to future military service members.

“GEICO is proud to support Our Community Salutes and its important mission to recognize and honor our nation’s youngest and newest service members,” states John Snead, director of GEICO’s military assistance programs.

Our Community Salutes (OCS), along with support from USAA (United Services Automobile Association), has announced America Salutes 2021, OCS’s second annual, star-studded tribute on May 4 to honor our nation’s Class of 2021 high school senior enlistees and their parents.

Dr Ken Hartman has received this year’s Freedom Medal Award from Camden County, NJ. In 2009, Dr. Hartman founded “Our Community Salutes,” a nonprofit (501-c-3) organization that recognizes and honors graduating high school seniors who plan to enlist into the military immediately after graduation.

“We’re getting tributes from as far away as outer space,” Hartman said, regarding America Salutes last summer. “The response has been overwhelming.”
